Acupuncture Acupuncture is a 4000-year-old method of healing in which one uses very fine needles in order to bring the Qi (often translated as life-energy) within the body into movement. In order to have a good functioning of the body, Qi has to flow freely. Qi is the engine behind a lot of processes in the body - to let Xue (Blood) flow and to nourish the internal organs. Sometimes there are circumstances that block the free flow of Qi. The reasons can be climatical circumstances, exhaustion because of to much work, long lasting emotional overload or pollution. It is possible to let the Qi flow again through stimulating certain points on the body-surface and so to restore a better balance of Yin and Yang. This will lead to an increasing of the self-healing capacity of the body. Several methods can be used to reach this aim, the Chinese found a way to acomplish that by unsing fine acupuncture needles and other means of stimulation. Because acupuncture works on the whole energetical system and therefore on all the functions of the body, it also has an influence on the emotional and mental balance. In the chinese thinking body, mind, emotions and spirit are all one. Next to acupuncture the treatments can also include secondary techniques like:
Moxibustion: heat is applied to parts of the body or to certain acupuncture points, in order to bring this warmth into the body. Cupping: by creating a vacuum a glass or plastic ball is applied on certain parts or points of the body Electrostimulation: certain parts of the body, where there is no flow of qi, can be strongly stimulated by applying a light currency between two or more needles. Laser: when treating children, the LLLT-laser can be used so that the children don't feel the pricking of the needles. Right now most of the insurances are reboursing our treatments with acupuncture. They are mostly covering partly, and sometimes totally, the acupuncture treatments. Children-Acupuncture -> |
